Wingham Akoostik Festival 18-20 October 2013

The Wingham Akoostik Festival will be held this year from October 18-20 2013.

Headline artists for this year’s Wingham Akoostik Festival include Wendy Matthews, Jenny Morris, Bill Chambers, Brendan Gallagher, Siskin River, Caravana Sun, Josh Needs and 30 more top acts.

“Over a period of six years, the Wingham Akoostik Festival has established itself as one of the Mid North Coast’s most vibrant community-based music events,” Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead said.

“This is a not-to-be-missed event that will not only attract visitors to our beautiful region, but also boost our local economy.”

This year, the three-day music event has a new home at the Wingham Showground, where a choir workshop – led by acclaimed choral conductor Rachel Hore – will be held in the heritage show pavilions. A third stage area – ‘The Akoostik Lounge’ – will also host an exciting program of musical presentations.

Festivalgoers can also enjoy new caravan and camping options while those with a taste for more upmarket accommodation can choose from a range of excellent local accommodation venues, including the Bank Guesthouse, Manning House, Wingham Golf Club Motor Inn and Wingham Motel.

The festival is renowned for its relaxed family friendly atmosphere, with visitors invited to enjoy a range of unique experiences, including learning circus skills, candle making, golf, browsing at market stalls, or unwinding with some yoga at sunrise.

Minister for Major Events and Tourism, George Souris said: “The NSW Government is pleased to support regional events such as the Wingham Akoostik Festival as part of the 2013 Regional Flagship Program.”

“Visitors to the festival should also make time to explore the historic timber town of Wingham on the Manning River as well as the picturesque surrounding countryside, home to several artists' retreats, guesthouses, cafes and shops selling fresh, local produce.”
