With the attendance of 68 international delegates, domestic buyers and Tourism Department Representatives from several states across India, the host of 2nd International Tourism Mart (ITM), Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) gained recognition in the realm of global tourism. The ITM was inaugurated on October 19 by Arunachal Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
“I am confident that this initiative will grow from strength to strength in near future,” said the CM after the inauguration of the event at Kalawangpo Hall, Tawang.
Union tourism secretary Parvez Dewan leading a high level team of the ministry also attended the three-day event. Other ministry officers included tourism additional secretary Giri Shankar, additional deputy director general A K Gupta, deputy director general Meenakshi Mehta, director Mamta Kochar, among others.
Being held after nine months of the success of ITM-2012 at Guwahati, this 2nd ITM highlights the tourism potential of the region in the domestic and international markets. It has brought together the tourism business fraternity and entrepreneurs from the eight North Eastern states and West Bengal.
“The business to business meetings held during the event will help Tawang generate business,” Arunachal’s Tourism Minister Pema Khandu said.
