The latest tourism visitation figures for year-end June 2013 as sourced from International Visitor Survey (IVS) and the National Visitor Survey (NVS) are now available on the Destination NSW website.
NSW experienced record results in number of international visitors, nights and expenditure, reinforcing the State’s position as Australia’s leading visitor destination. NSW received a significant 6.6 per cent growth in visitor expenditure to year-end June 2013 and this drove the national expenditure growth of 6.0 per cent.
The key drivers of NSW growth were expenditure from Chinese visitors and from Holiday visitors. For the first time, China has outranked New Zealand as the largest source market for NSW.
NSW continued its national leadership in domestic visitors, nights and expenditure. NSW recorded a significant 4.9 per cent growth in visitor expenditure to year-end June 2013 and this drove the national expenditure growth of 3.2 per cent. The key drivers of NSW growth were spending from Holiday visitors and spending in Regional NSW.
