Bollywood legend Shahrukh Khan has been welcomed to Sydney by Barry O’Farrell and Minister for the Arts George Souris.
NSW Premier Mr O’Farrell said he was delighted to welcome the world’s most famous and influential Bollywood star to NSW as he prepared to headline the variety show, Temptation Reloaded.
“Shahrukh Khan – or SRK – has featured in 75 films and I’m delighted to welcome him to Sydney and Parramatta as he brings Temptation Reloaded to Australia for the first time,” Mr O’Farrell said.
“There is a massive program of major events taking place in Sydney this weekend, and this show is expected to attract visitors from near and far, providing an economic boost to Western Sydney’s hotels, bars, restaurants and businesses.
“The region is home to one of Australia’s largest populations of South Asian communities, many of whom are great fans of SRK and his work.
“His show has attracted audiences of Indian origin in Sydney and NSW, as well as fans overseas including Fiji, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia,” he said.
A stellar line-up of the Bollywood A-list joined SRK in Sydney on Monday, including actors Madhuri Dixit, Jacqueline Fernandez and Rani Mukherjee.
“We are pleased to host SRK and the talented cast of Temptation Reloaded. ”
Mr Khan said he was thrilled to return to Sydney for his first Australian performance of Temptation Reloaded.
“Sydney is a beautiful city and has a special place in my heart. I am so happy to be bringing my show here for all my fans,” Mr Khan said.
