What started out as a small idea to promote the Central Coast's fashion industry has culminated into an action packed weeklong event attracting interest from all over the Central Coast.
The inaugural 2013 Fashion Week Central Coast 1-7 September is auspiced by Regional Development Australia Central Coast (RDACC) with Mingara Recreation Club as the major sponsor of the What the Frock! Gala event. RDACC CEO Andrew Roach said, "Fashion Week Central Coast is about building aspiration in our community and to encourage and showcase the talented young people we have here on the Central Coast."
The first event commences Monday 2nd September with Fashionable Flicks at Avoca Beach Picture Theatre includes a timeless classic movie and style tips from international brand NYDJ's who'll be giving away jeans on the night. Tuesday is the Fashionably Late VIP Launch event in a secret location. Wear What You Want Wednesday on 4th September will support healthy body image at school and work. Thursday it's off to Westfield Tuggerah for their VIP Fashion Launch with Bubbly, Chocolate, Gift Bags, Giveaways and fashion tips from their resident stylist. Friday we are off to the races for Fashions on the Field at the Wyong Gold Cup, and Saturday 7th September is the Finale with the What the Frock Gala Event (WTF).
The WTF! event will showcase over 60 of the Central Coast's talented emerging fashion designers, models, artists, hair and beauty professionals and event managers. The event is a night filled with fashion, food and fun. Red carpet, paparazzi, entertainment by a twenty-two piece local ban Big Band Therapy, a fashion art auction and the fashion parade showcasing designs from local fashion students.
One of the regions emerging fashion designers is Alana Becker. Alana has been studying fashion design at the Hunter Institute of TAFE for 18 months and in 2012, she created Desvalido Australia as a fashion project she hopes to turn into a business when she graduates. When Alana designs, she aims to turn heads with a uniquely girly style for the young woman with 'nothing to wear!'.
Mingara Recreation Club, as the major sponsor of WTF!, is excited to be part of an event focused on the talents and strengths of our region.
