Sydneysiders and visitors alike are invited to make a diary date to attend the
inaugural Australian Garden Show Sydney.
Tickets are selling fast for this unique new international garden show,
which will be held in the grounds of Sydney’s Centennial Park from
Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 September.
Secured by the NSW Government through Destination NSW, the Australian
Garden Show Sydney plans to set a new benchmark for horticultural
events.
“The inaugural Australian Garden Show Sydney will herald the start of 29
various floral and garden shows that take place each year throughout
regional NSW,” Minister
for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris said.
“The Australian Garden Show Sydney is set to become a landmark event on
the NSW Events Calendar and is estimated to contribute at least $12
million to the State’s economy over the next three years.”
“What better venue to showcase Sydney-style gardening than Centennial
Park, which this year celebrates its 125th anniversary,” Mr Souris said.
Visitors to the Australian Garden Show Sydney are advised to avoid the
queues by prebooking tickets to the show, which will feature a Grand
Floral Pavilion, retail and nursery displays, a fully sustainable
kitchen garden, informative garden talks, photography, floral and
cooking workshops, a potting tent for children and an array of bars and
restaurants.
Minister for the Environment, Robyn Parker, said: “The Australian Garden
Show Sydney offers the perfect educational experience for those
interested in learning how to successfully grow shrubs, flowers and
herbs in Sydney’s sunny environment. It is an event that fuses design,
creativity and sustainability to offer an incomparable experience for
visitors.”
International horticultural experts will be on hand at the Show in the
garden talk series, while leading designer gardens, spectacular floral
installations and a Kitchen Garden – where you can learn to grow veggies
on your balcony – offer educational and fun experiences for garden
lovers.
Destination NSW CEO, Sandra Chipchase said: “Destination NSW is pleased
to support the Australian Garden Show Sydney in what will be a fantastic
event for garden enthusiasts and horticulturists from around the world.
This is an event, which will clearly set the benchmark for flower,
landscape design and gardening shows in the Asia-Pacific.”
