There is always excitement when a travelling circus comes
into town. Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter Region of NSW Australia is fortunate to be one of the cities the Lennon Bros
Circus will be performing at.
Unlike other circuses that have done away with animals, there
will be performing Lions, Llamas, Monkeys, Beautiful Liberty Horses, Camels, Minature
Donkeys, Geese and Doga. It is reputed to be the best animal circus in Australia. Lennon
Bros Circus is one of only two circuses left in Australia with big cats in the
program. The three lions at Lennon’s are four years of age: two females and one
male from different litters. They were born and bred in the circus, and are in
fact 12th generation born and bred in Australia.
As well as the animals there will be Clowns, Jugglers, the
Double Wheel of Death, Flying Trapeze, and a Contortionist in a thrilling 2
hour show. .
Lennon Bros Circus is the oldest touring circus in Australia. It
started 115 years ago as a Buckjump show and has evolved into the sophisticated
circus production witnessed today. The circus is currently run by 5th
generation brothers Geoff & Warren with 5th and 6th generations of the
family represented in the program.
The Lennon family employs a staff of 30 people, ranging in
age from 3 to 65 years. To enable this large operation to move around Australia (by
no means a small feat), they have 14 trucks, 2 semi-trailers and 14 caravans.
There will be only 2 shows in Muswellbrook before the huge
tent is packed up and move on to the next location. They will be Tuesday 15
November at 7pm and Wednesday 16 November at 6pm. Admission costs are: Side vie
elevated chairs $15 Children, $25 Adults; Front view elevated chairs $20 Children
$30 Adults; ringside chairs $25 Children $35 Adults. Children are aged 3-15
years old, and children 2 years and under are free if sitting on a lap. Ticket
sales can be made online or at the circus 1 hour before the show starts.
