Honour For Australian Circus

Merrik Ashton
Two of our leading young Circus gymnasts, Jordan and Merrik Ashton, have been selected from circuses around the world to appear at Monte Carlo, Feb 2012, in the New Generation Circus Festival.

These artists are the seventh generation from the renowned Ashton Circus family and are regular performers with Circus Joseph Ashton, currently touring in West Australia.

They will be performing a knockabout act and also a slackwire act at Monte Carlo.
Merrik and Jordan Ashton
Although they will not be performing in their flying trapeze act in this Festival, it is interesting that the younger brother, Merrik (17 yrs old) is currently catching his elder brother Jordan (19 yrs old) doing a triple somersault. They would probably be the youngest siblings in Australia to achieve this in public performance.

New Generation Circus Festival is the first competition for young circus artists to be held in Monte Carlo and it will be held on February 4 and 5 at the Chapiteau de Fontvieille, the permanent venue for the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival which is held each January.

More than 15 international acts including acrobats, clowns and animals will compete for the «Gold Junior», «Silver Junior» and «Bronze Junior». The jury will be composed of young personalities of the international circus scene under the presidency of Pauline, daughter of HSH Princess Stephanie.
