Adelaide Airport to Host CAPA Airline Leader Summit Australia Pacific 2026

Adelaide
Adelaide Airport will host the CAPA Airline Leader Summit Australia Pacific 2026, bringing the region’s most influential aviation leaders to South Australia at a time of unprecedented growth, investment and international connectivity.

Taking place at the iconic Adelaide Oval on July 28-29, 2026, the summit will bring together airline executives, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss the latest trends, opportunities, and challenges shaping aviation in the Australia Pacific region and beyond.

Over the last year, Adelaide Airport recorded its highest passenger numbers on record, welcoming more than 8.7 million travellers during Financial Year 2025, up 2.1% year-on-year and exceeding pre-pandemic traffic levels by 2.4%.

International connectivity has been a cornerstone of Adelaide Airport’s growth strategy. January 2026 marked the airport’s busiest month ever for international passengers, with more than 128,000 travellers, representing growth of 21% compared with the same period a year earlier. The airport's accelerating global profile has been reinforced by a series of major airline developments. United Airlines launched its first-ever direct service between Adelaide and San Francisco, Qantas resumed direct international operations from Adelaide for the first time in more than a decade, and Emirates selected the airport for the deployment of its first ultra-long-range aircraft within its global network on the Dubai route.

The airport’s AUD600 million “Project Flight” program is underway, aimed at expanding terminal capacity, adding new gates and aircraft parking, and introducing advanced passenger processing technology to support growth through 2050.

Adelaide Airport is also evolving into a key commercial and innovation hub, leveraging its proximity to the CBD. Aerospace, defence, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and technology businesses are becoming central to the airport’s ecosystem, aligning with South Australia’s strengths in defence, space technology, and renewable energy.

Australia’s aviation sector remains resilient, with demand strong across domestic and international markets, driven by population growth, inbound tourism, and leisure travel. Throughout the summit, C-suite executives will deliver high-level discussions on how the sector can capitalise on growth opportunities while navigating key challenges, including rising operating costs, aircraft availability, engine reliability concerns, and supply chain pressures.

Claudia Kunz, Senior Director – Events at CAPA, said: "The CAPA Airline Leader Summit Australia Pacific 2026 promises to be a pivotal gathering for aviation leaders and industry stakeholders. Adelaide Airport's remarkable growth and transformation make it the perfect host for this event, showcasing the resilience and innovation driving the Australian aviation sector. We are excited to bring together global leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of aviation in this dynamic region." – Claudia Kunz, Senior Director - Events, CAPA

Brenton Cox, Managing Director, Adelaide Airport, added:
“It’s always important for our aviation industry to collaborate. This year CAPA comes at a time when global traffic flows, supply chains and networks are navigating the ripple effects of global conflict – the need for our industry to act as a connecting and collaborating force has never been greater. Having the eyes of the global aviation market on Adelaide at such a critical phase provides us with an invaluable opportunity to highlight South Australia as a leading tourism and business events destination, while also showcasing our seamless and easy facilities such as our expanding domestic and international terminal.”
