| Amazing Thailand Out There |
Arriving on the heels of Thailand’s Equal Marriage Act, enacted in January 2025, the initiative reflects the country’s progressive stance on LGBTQ+ rights. With the global LGBTQ+ travel market projected to generate US$1.5 billion by 2025, Thailand is leveraging its vibrant hospitality sector and rich cultural heritage to attract international visitors. Currently ranked fifth worldwide in tourism impact—behind the USA, UK, France, and Italy—Thailand continues to expand its appeal through dedicated engagement with this thriving market.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool emphasized that the Amazing Thailand Out There initiative was shaped by insights gathered from LGBTQ+ focus groups held in Phuket, Bangkok, and Ko Samui. These discussions helped refine Thailand’s tourism strategy to better accommodate LGBTQ+ travelers while strengthening business opportunities for local tourism operators.
The event featured three major components: a travel trade meet, an influencer showcase, and a cultural night celebrating Thailand’s LGBTQ+ community.
At the Thailand Out There: Amazing Thailand LGBTQ+ Travel Trade Meet 2025, 20 Thai tourism businesses connected with international buyers from the USA, Canada, and Brazil. The session provided a platform for networking and industry insights, with a presentation by Marriott Thailand highlighting the hospitality sector’s commitment to inclusivity. Attendees also participated in a familiarization trip, experiencing Thailand’s diverse offerings firsthand.
Presiding over the session, TAT Deputy Governor Siripakorn Cheawsamoot noted that Thailand has consistently ranked among the world’s top destinations for LGBTQ+ travelers. The event underscored Thailand’s dedication to strengthening partnerships and positioning itself as the preferred choice for this segment.
Marriott International’s Market Vice President for Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar, Brad Edman, reaffirmed the company’s support for LGBTQ+ inclusion, emphasizing W Hotels’ role in celebrating diversity and amplifying marginalized voices. Marriott International’s long-standing commitment to equitable workplace policies and respect for all aligns with Thailand’s broader vision of inclusivity in tourism.
The Meet The LGBTQ+ Influencers session brought together six influencer couples from the USA, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, and Australia, along with a popular Australian TikToker based in Thailand. Among the highlights was an appearance by newlywed Thai actors Apiwat “Porsch” Apiwatsayree and Sappanyoo “Arm” Panatkool, who engaged with media and tourism operators, reinforcing Thailand’s reputation as an LGBTQ+ friendly destination.
Following the event, the influencer couples embarked on tailored journeys across Thailand, exploring destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Ko Samui, and Chiang Mai. Their experiences, shared with global audiences, showcased Thailand’s dynamic tourism landscape and its welcoming atmosphere for LGBTQ+ travelers.
The day concluded with the Amazing Thailand Out There Night, a vibrant cultural celebration hosted by TAT. Attendees enjoyed electrifying drag performances, live music, and a DJ set, capturing the energy and creativity of Thailand’s LGBTQ+ scene.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlighted Thailand’s unique appeal, stating that the country’s openness, cultural richness, and warm hospitality make it an ideal destination for LGBTQ+ travelers. With this initiative, Thailand is not only fostering a more inclusive tourism industry but also reinforcing its status as a global leader in promoting equality through travel.
As demand for destinations that celebrate diversity continues to rise, Thailand stands at the forefront, setting a benchmark for inclusive tourism and embracing its role as a premier LGBTQ+ travel hub.
