Famed Spots for Irises loved for Centuries

Often depicted in the Japanese woodblock prints known as ukiyo-e, eastern Tokyo’s Katsushika City has been famous for irises since the late Edo period (early 19th century). 

The 2024 Katsushika Iris Festival is held during peak full bloom season from 27 May to 16 June, featuring over 6,000 irises of 200 types within the 8,700 sq. m. Horikiri Shobu-en (Iris Garden), and around 14,000 irises of 100 types at Mizumoto Park.

The Katsushika Iris Festival will be held again in 2024 at Horikiri Shobu Garden and Tokyo Metropolitan Mizumoto Park. During the period, various events will be held at both venues. Details of events at each venue will be announced at a later date.

Katsushika Iris Tour Bus: On Saturdays and Sundays during the event period, the Katsushika Shobu Tour bus will run connecting both venues with Shibamata Taishakuten, Kanamachi Station, and Kameari Station.
