Amazing Forbes has an abundance of activities for every kind of explorer. It is situated on Wiradjuri country, and there is plenty to see and do, plus exciting new things popping up constantly!

From its stunning natural environment, including the Lachlan River, Lake Forbes and Forbes Wetlands (Gum Swamp Bird Hides) for bird enthusiasts, and Gugaa – part of the Sculpture Down the Lachlan (SDL) art trail. SDL is an exciting trail of larger than life sculptures situated along the Lachlan River from Forbes to Condobolin. There is also an array of murals and smaller sculptures in and around the town for your viewing pleasure. Plus a few cultural pieces at the Forbes Wiradjuri Dreaming Centre, on Lake Forbes.

Forbes boasts a rich – and colourful – history, and gold rush past – a giveaway is the magnificent architecture that lines the streets to this day. Many of the buildings dotting its streetscape are part of the Centenary of Federation Heritage Trail (several of which also appeared in the hit film ‘The Dish’).

Nestled on the Lachlan River in the heart of the Lachlan Valley, our historic town has magnificent heritage buildings, rich history and gold rush past, a stunning natural environment and unique local attractions. Don’t miss our myriad of sculptures and learn about the Wiradjuri people and their captivating culture at the Wiradjuri Dreaming Centre. McFeeter’s Motor Museum is a must for motor enthusiasts and the Forbes Museum is a hidden gem which will inspire you to seek out the legacy of Ben Hall; visit the site where he was shot, and his final resting place.
