Sun Peaks celebrates 60 years of skiing this winter and will commemorate the anniversary through a number of community initiatives. The resort is working collaboratively with Red Collar Brewing Co. to create a 60-year celebration beer, which will be sold on tap at Masa’s Bar + Grill and in cans at select liquor stores in BC.
Sun Peaks is now part of the Mountain Collective, joining an industry-leading collection of resorts, including Panorama, Revelstoke, Banff Sunshine Village and Lake Louise.
New for this season, Sun Peaks Backcountry Tours and Avalanche Training specialises in introducing, new, aspiring backcountry enthusiasts to safe backcountry travel. Courses include Avalanche Canada AST1 Courses, Intro to Backcountry, Tree Well Safety and All Mountain Skills, Guided Backcountry Tours, and Heli Cat Warm Up.
The new Sun Peaks Centre is open and includes additional conference and meeting space, a covered NHL sized ice rink, fitness facility and Great Hall. The facility accommodates small groups, while the ice rink will be used for public skating, drop-in hockey and hosting hockey tournaments.
Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks (ASSP) is a non-profit organization whose focus is to provide adaptive snow sports and recreational programs for people with a wide range of abilities. The accessible layout of Sun Peaks’ ski-through village coupled with the organization’s progressive approach help take adaptive sports athletes to the next level.
