New Vietnam Visitor Requirements

The Government has agreed to the policy on the pilot route to welcome international tourists as proposed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism

Accordingly, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh agreed to the policy on a pilot roadmap to welcome international tourists to Vietnam. Culture, Sports and Tourism, Health, Public Security, National Defense, Foreign Affairs, Transport, Information and Communication Ministries; People's Committees of provinces and cities: Da Nang, Kien Giang , Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam and Quang Ninh and related agencies, based on their assigned functions, tasks and authority, take the initiative in implementing, ensuring safety and efficiency.

Pilot route to welcome international tourists in 3 phases
According to the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the pilot route to welcome international tourists will be implemented in 3 phases:

Phase 1 (from November 2021): Piloting international arrivals under package tourism programs, charter flights and international trade in areas and tourism service establishments selected in Phu Quoc city (Kien Giang), Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Quang Ninh.

Phase 2 (from January 2022): Expanding the scope to welcome international tourists, connecting destinations through regular charter flights and international trade. Guests can participate in travel programs that combine multiple destinations after completing the tour program at the first destination within 7 days (in the immediate future, connecting Kien Giang, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Quang Nam). , Quang Ninh) and may add some other localities (if conditions are met and there is a proposal to welcome international tourists).

Phase 3: Fully reopening to the international tourist market. The starting time of Phase 3 will be based on the actual epidemic situation and on the evaluation of the results of welcoming international tourists in the first two phases.

Tourists are foreigners, Tourists are foreigners, Vietnamese residing abroad coming from key and potential tourist markets of Vietnam, who meet the following conditions:

(1) Having a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 recognized by a competent authority in Vietnam (not applicable to children under 12 years of age accompanied by parents or guardians). The duration of injection of the 2nd or 1st dose (for the 1 dose vaccine) is valid for 14 days and not more than 12 months from the time of departure. Or have a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 or equivalent documents certifying that they have recovered from the disease, issued by a competent authority in the country of treatment and recognized by Vietnam. The time from the time of discharge from the hospital to the time of departure must not exceed 6 months.

(2) Having negative results for SARS-CoV-2 test by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method within 72 hours before departure and certified by the competent authority of the country conducting the test (from the time of sampling).

(3) Have medical or travel insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment with a minimum liability of $50,000.

(4) Participating in a package tour program of a travel agency.

Regarding the international tourist pick-up process, there will be instructions for tourists, agencies and related businesses from the time of registering the tour program, issuing a visa, preparing before the flight, carrying out entry and exit procedures and in the process of participating in a tour program in Vietnam.

Phu Quoc welcomes guests from November 20, 2021
The pilot plan to welcome international visitors using "vaccine passports", signed and promulgated by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province on October 21, clearly states that the implementation period is 6 months, divided into 2 phases, as soon as people in Phu Quoc receive the full dose of vaccine.

Specifically, from November 20, Phu Quoc will organize to welcome a number of charter flights to test the process of picking up and serving guests, from December 20, it will be deployed according to a route of 2 stage.

Phase 1 (from December 20, 2021 to March 20, 2022), piloting 3,000-5,000 guests/month, via charter flights, serving guests within a limited range and locations.

Phase 2 (from March 20 to June 20, 2022) after evaluating the results of phase 1 pilot implementation, if the requirements are met, it will propose to expand the expected scale to welcome from 5,000-10,000 guests/ month.
