Discover Sydney’s newest unique outdoor venue set under the stars, The Barracks, North Head, Manly. Audiences will be entranced by the artistry of Australia’s biggest names in music, theatre, ballet, dance, rock, opera and jazz for five weekends of performances from Thursday 24 February to Sunday 27 March. Featuring performances by Jessica Mauboy, David Campbell, James Morrison, David Hobson, Lucy Durack, John Foreman and the Aussie Pops Orchestra, Tim Campbell and Bonnie Anderson, The Tap Pack, Queensland Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, Australian Rock Collective and many more.

Set in an enchanting location steeped in historical significance and natural beauty. Be among the first to experience this diverse and inspiring concert series in a truly magnificent setting perched high above Sydney Harbour.

The Barracks on North Head is a historically significant and treasured space on the doorstep of Sydney that will have a new lease of life in Autumn this year with the announcement of this all-star concert series over 20 nights.

Organisers say the event, the first of its kind in this open performance space, will provide employment to more than 650 performers and event professionals. They are working closely with local businesses, including hospitality, transport, and tourism providers, to bring money into the Beaches’ economy.

The event is supported by the Federal Government RISE Fund, Destination NSW and Northern Beaches Council. This unique series of concerts presents an opportunity to generate income that can be used to maintain and repair the site. To create jobs and income for the Arts and Entertainment industry which has been dramatically affected by COVID-19 and to respect the history and environmental preciousness of the site.

JESSICA MAUBOY
Thursday 24 February

If 2021 has been a rebirth year for multi-ARIA award winning singer-songwriter, actress, and Voice Coach Jessica Mauboy, 2022 will be her watershed one. Making new music and continuing her role as a leader and disruptor, Jessica Mauboy returns to the stage for the sure to be incredible opening night of Night at The Barracks North Head, Manly. This exciting new show will read as an anthology of Jessica’s global smash hits since her first solo album in 2008, elevating them to a new era of empowerment. Jessica Mauboy is a quadruple threat with a conscience, a woman with serious acting chops and multiple accolades, an accomplished songwriter and piano player, and she owns her effervescent and incredibly engaging energy. You’ll know a Mauboy song when you hear it because Jess makes every song her own, each tune laced with trills you instantly recognise as hers.

JAMES MORRISON MOTOWN EXPERIENCE

The legendary James Morrison, accompanied by his talented band will blow you away with an unforgettable and entertaining Motown experience. This feel-good evening will get you on your feet and includes four soulful voices, a pumping rhythm section and some smouldering horns lead by the incomparable James Morrison. Songs include hits from James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and all the Motown greats. This is one show not to be missed. So come join the party and prepare to be blown away!

DAVID CAMPBELL: BACK IN THE SWING

Australian ARIA award winner, singer and popular TV presenter, David Campbell is BACK and set to wow Night at The Barracks crowd with his acclaimed show 'Back in the Swing.’ Featuring Campbell’s silky vocals and his full band, 'Back In The Swing' blends together genres of swing, ballads and R&B from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra and Billy Joel, with the Aussie singer’s own personal style. Notable songs include Come Fly With Me, For Once In My Life and Walkin’ My Baby Back Home, which will be sure to keep The Barracks crowd singing and dancing along all night.

JAMES MORRISON AND HIS BIG BAND

James Morrison is renowned as one of the finest jazz players Australia has ever produced. Revel in this rare and sensational night of brassy sounds as James is joined on stage by his big band. You’ll be swingin’ from the first note as they bring you a heap of big band classics made famous by greats Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Gershwin and, of course, Frank Sinatra. One of Australia’s leading ladies of stage and screen Lucy Durack, and Opera legend David Hobson come together for the very first time with a 45-piece orchestra, led by renown conductor John Foreman for this amazing and one-off show at A NIGHT AT THE BARRACKS. AUSTRALIAN ROCK COLLECTIVE CELEBRATES THE BEATLES ‘LET IT BE’ ALBUM 50thANNIVERSARY

Following two sold-out tours of The Beatles’ Abbey Road Live in 2019/20, The Australian Rock Collective (ARC) are returning in 2021 to present the final Beatles album in all its glory – Let It Be, marking the 50thAnniversary. ARC, comprised of Kram (Spiderbait), Darren Middleton (Powderfinger) Mark Wilson (Jet) and Davey Lane (You Am I) are self-confessed Beatles tragics, playing Let It Be from start to finish – followed by a second set of favourites spanning the breadth of the Beatles’ catalogue.

In an enticing exploration of classical ballet and contemporary works, Queensland Ballet comes alive on stage to reignite the audience’s passion for dance with a high energy, dynamic and emotional performance. Showcasing a vision of Queensland Ballet’s future, our gifted Jette Parker Young Artists will join featured Company dancers to delight in breath-taking pieces including the energetic Don Quixote Wedding Pas de Deux, Greg Horsman’s classical masterpieces Raymonda Pas Classique and vibrant Bluebird Pas de Deux from The Sleeping Beauty and, a new contemporary work by Resident Choreographer Natalie Weir. This performance of precision, prowess and promise is not to be missed.

Car Parking and Travel:

The simplest way to get into the event site is to walk from Manly Wharf but the Producers recognise this isn’t always possible. There will be limited parking available at St Pauls Catholic College Car Park, 124 Darley Road, Manly, for pre-booking with ticket purchase through Ticketmaster. Where possible the Producers encourage people to use the shuttle bus service from Manly which needs to also be pre-booked through Ticketmaster.

There are many ways to get to the event in its beautiful North Head location. The journey to this hidden gem certainly adds to the sense of adventure. The Producers would like to remind guests to consider the local residents, and particularly wildlife that live in the area, and for this reason please don’t attempt to drive up into the site, as there is no parking, and the Producers want to avoid additional cars moving up and down Darley Road.
