- Sydney tour operator, Ultimately Sydney, reinvents itself during lockdown
Ultimately Sydney, Sydney-based tour operator, launches a new type of post-pandemic experience - a city exploration game. The new and safe phone-guided experience was created during the lockdown in partnership with Questo, the platform for city exploration games.
The first of its kind city exploration game in Sydney is a mix between an outdoor escape game, a treasure hunt and a safe city tour. Couples, groups of friends and families walk around town following on-screen instructions inside the Questo app and solve puzzles to discover popular and lesser-known places and local stories.
“We've decided to use the pandemic to our advantage and looked for opportunities to grow after it was over. Now, I'm proud to unveil Sydney's first city exploration game created alongside Questo. It's the newest activity in town, which I believe can become one of the most popular things to do for locals and one of the favourite ways for tourists to discover Sydney. Our city game helps locals rediscover their beloved city and spend quality time outdoors; and takes tourists to Sydney's top and hidden landmarks as they discover local stories in a fun way.” said Helen Fraser, founder of Ultimately Sydney.
The first Sydney city exploration game starts at Customs House where players play the role of an ex-convict trying to make a new life for himself in 19th-century Australia. The city game takes players on an interactive 2.6 km walk to 15 places having an estimated gameplay time of 124 minutes. At each location, players answer questions and solve challenges based on their immediate surroundings. Once they find the correct answer, the story of each place is revealed and the game continues with the next location. "
After a challenging year, we're happy to join forces with Ultimately Sydney and start working on creating experiences for the future of city exploration. As things will get back to normal, we're confident that both international and domestic travelers, plus locals will be eager to explore again. And when they will, we will offer them a safe, fun, and flexible city exploration activity as a quest.", said Alex Govoreanu, CEO of Questo.
The game can be played at any hour of the day or night, 365 days a year and it costs $12.99 AUD for access on two devices. The official launch of the Sydney city game will take place on Saturday, 19 December at 10am.
The creators are offering free tickets to all people playing the game on Saturday. The promo code is – golocal
