Alternative trekking in Cusco

Ausangate trek is distinguished by the unique charm of its landscapes between lakes, hot springs, valleys with llamas and alpacas, wild vicuñas, canyons and snow-capped peaks. Ausangate is considered a sacred mountain and the origin of the water. Depending on the possible access, you can also visit the rainbow mountain, Vinicunca; this particular pigmentation is linked to the presence of minerals and sedimentary stones.

Salkantay means "Wild Mountain". The slopes of this snow-covered mountain are known for their technical difficulties that annually attracts mountaineers from all over the world but it also has a network of trails for trekking. The best known four-day trip can start in Limatambo, Mollepata or Soraypampa. Two impressive peaks, Humantay and Salkantay dominate the landscape. This destination also offers the opportunity to admire the local fauna like alpacas and condors while taking an alternative route to get to the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
