Thanks to Avis and Hertz, the journey is now more accessible and affordable.
From April 1st, 2021, both hire car companies will offer one-way car rentals between Perth and Exmouth with a significantly reduced relocation fee. The current relocation fee, additional to the standard daily car hire rates and conditions, for Perth to Exmouth or vice versa, is over $1,000. With the reduced relocation fee, customers will only pay a $250.00 if hiring a car to drive from Perth to Exmouth, and $150.00 if hiring from Exmouth and dropping the vehicle back in Perth. Fly the other way with Qantas Airlines, who operate fast and comfortable jet aircraft on the Perth to Learmonth route, making the return journey easy.
Home to two World Heritage-listed areas, Shark Bay and Ningaloo Reef, Australia's Coral Coast features stunning coastline, fascinating wildlife, and rugged landscapes. Visitors can experience thousands of years of history, stunning carpets of colourful wildflowers, visit several national parks, and explore untouched coral reefs teeming with marine life. Several of Australia's most loved attractions are in the region including The Pinnacles, Kalbarri National Park, the Dolphins of Monkey Mia, and the Whale Sharks of Ningaloo Reef.
According to David O'Malley, Chief Executive of Australia's Coral Coast, 'the barriers of time and distance have always been challenging for international and interstate visitors who often have limited time for their holiday, and find the return drive too difficult. The 2019 trial with Avis demonstrated considerable demand for this one-way rental initiative, convincing Avis to continue, and Hertz to come onboard with the program' he said.
The good news is that Western Australian's can also take advantage of this initiative as well as recommending it to visiting interstate friends and relatives. It is hoped that international tourists will again pick up on this great opportunity once the international borders open and visitors return to Australia.
