The Tweed Announced as Host Destination for ASTW 2021 Convention

The Tweed region in northern NSW has been announced as the host destination for the Australian Society of Travel Writers' (ASTW) 2021 Convention at the association's Annual General Meeting, held this week via virtual conference.

The ASTW Convention is a highlight on the travel media calendar with up to 200 writers, editors, photographers and influencers, along with product and destination publicists, coming together in a host location to meet, network, share and celebrate.

The Tweed was selected to host the major national event based on a proposal submitted by the Tweed Tourism Company that offers a compelling invitation to meet and immerse in the region's stunning coast and valley settings and to discover its artisan food and drink provenance, strong arts offerings, UNESCO World Heritage nature and array of wellness offerings.

The Convention Program includes conference sessions, social functions, pre- and post-familiarisation opportunities and the ASTW's spotlight event, its Annual Gala Awards Dinner.

Elisa Elwin, President of the ASTW, said that the association was excited to be partnering with the Tweed Tourism Company for the much-anticipated 2021 event.

"The excellent Tweed team submitted a stand out proposal for the 2021 AGM and Convention addressing all our requirements and going above and beyond our expectations for a destination."

"The ASTW committee were fortunate to be wonderfully hosted by the Tweed Tourism Company earlier this year and we're so excited to be bringing the ASTW Convention to such a lush and abundant region with endless stories and a great diversity of destination offerings."

The Convention host has significant opportunities to showcase its offerings to some of Australia's leading travel media and the Tweed was set to impress, according to Bradley Nardi, GM of Tweed Tourism Company.

"The Tweed has some of the country's most-talked-about and awarded experiences, from hatted restaurants and leading arts offerings to nature trails taking in Gondwana-era rainforest, and we're thrilled to have this opportunity to share our region's beauty with ASTW members in 2021."

"The Tweed ASTW Convention will be based seaside at Mantra on Salt Beach and the program will include a stunning welcome event at Husk Distillers, home to the famous Ink Gin, morning wellness offerings by the beach and a packed familiarisations offering for media delegates to choose from."

The ASTW 2021 Convention will be held in The Tweed from 14-16 October 2021 with more event details and registration information to be provided in 2021.
