Thousands of visitors from all over the country are flocking to Tamworth for what is set to a big ten days of music and entertainment, as the 48th Toyota Country Music Festival officially starts today.
With the show well and truly underway, Tamworth has transformed into a bustling music hub - the CBD is lined with buskers, the park has turned into an outdoor concert venue, sporting fields have become campgrounds and the venues are filled with patrons, artists and live music.
To officially kick start the festival, fans will undertake Blanco Brown’s “Git Up Challenge” in Toyota Park at 6:30pm followed by the Toyota Opening Concert at 7pm. Hosted by Pete Denahy, The Opening Concert will feature a diverse line up including performances from Adam Brand, The 2019 Toyota Star Maker winner Blake O’Connor, Andrew Swift, Ashleigh Dallas, the 2019 Toyota Busking Champion Rhys Crimmin and many more.
Country Music Festival Manager, Barry Harley says, “The best time of year has officially arrived and after months of preparation, we are so excited to see yet another fantastic festival come to life here in Tamworth.
“Over the last 48 years, The Festival has changed and involved in so many ways. We have introduced many new events, performances and venues; and we are really looking forward to what TCMF 2020 has in store for our visitors, locals and artists who are all coming to town to enjoy a great show.”
Some of the additional highlights on the TCMF 2020 line-up include the public opening of the brand new Tamworth National Guitar Museum on Saturday 18 January; The Toyota Star Maker Grand Final concert, and a pit-stop from Cold Chisel’s Blood Moon Tour on Sunday 19 January; a star-studded line up, in celebration of Joy McKean’s 90th Birthday, who will present A Concert for Joy on Wednesday 22 January; performances from the likes of Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers, Lee Kernaghan, The Wolfe Brothers, Amber Lawrence, Beccy Cole, Sara Storer, John Williamson and more; The Toyota Cavalcade of Colour on Saturday 25 January; and the pinnacle event, country music’s night of nights, The Toyota Golden Guitar Awards on Saturday 25 January.
But the action doesn’t stop there! Over the next 10 days, The Festival will feature more than 700 artists, 2,800 events, across more than 100 different venues, plus there’s even the chance of some much-needed rain across the region!
