There is a lot to do and see in Bangkok- sightseeing, shopping, business and entertainment. Visiitos to Bangkok need is a good hotel to base their stay in. The five star Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok is such a hotel. It is located on the northern side of Bangkok, within the Ladprao business district and moments away from Chatuchak Park.

The hotel is one of the city’s timeless landmarks, having opened in 1983 as the first hotel within the Centara Hotels & Resorts family. It has been recently fully renovated to a modern and inviting style.

The Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok is famous for being Thailand’s very first integrated five-star hotel and shopping destination and has a reputation for attentive service, sublime dining and modern accommodations.

There are 565 rooms and suites, all recently renovated and with a bright, modern and fresh design.

There is a wide choice of accommodation, such as Deluxe and Premier Rooms, as well Deluxe, Premium, Club, Studio, Executive and Plaza Suites.

Club Deluxe Suite

I felt right at home in my luxurious Club Deluxe Suite during my three night stay. It was very large, with 45 square metres of living space. The decor of the suite was a refreshing modern design. I enjoyed the distant city skyline views through the large windows over the city and the adjacent green Chatuchak Park

I had a good nights sleep on the plush king bed and with its comfortable mattress and luxurious bed linen. There was a seating area with a comfortable sofa and chair to relax, read or enjoy watching the large TV. For the business traveler there was plenty of workspace, with a desk and chair included in the suite.

A feature I really like was the open bathroom with both bathtub and separate shower. Its walls could be folded back so that it was so that it merged into the rest of the suite. I enjoyed soaking in my bubble freestanding bath while watching TV and drinking a cup of coffee.

Club Deluxe Suite

I made use of the complimentary wireless internet access and the other facilities provided in the suite, such as the DVD player, in-house and pay-per-view movies, docking station, IDD telephone line, individually controlled air-conditioning, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room safe and hairdryer. These all helped make my there night stay at the Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok a very pleasant hospitality experience. I could tell that thought had been given to the layout and decor of the suite.

My Club Deluxe Suit gave me exclusive access to the Club Lounge and the many services it provided such as the three complimentary meals a day, evening cocktails and canapés and much more. I particularly enjoyed the nightly Chocolate Buffet.

With nine restaurants and bars, the hotel has a dining experience for all styles and tastes, ranging from huge international buffets through to authentic Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Italian and Vietnamese specialty restaurants, a cosy coffee corner for home-baked breads and cakes, and a dramatic rooftop venue where the night lights of Bangkok form a majestic backdrop for creative cocktails and fascinating fusion food.

- Blue Sky Rooftop Bar and Dining on the 24th floor is a French Bistro that seats 190 indoors and outdoors on the terrace under the stars

- Chatuchak Cafe provides International cuisines in a la carte menu and buffet stations

- Don Giovanni offers exquisite home-style Italian cuisine in a trattoria-inspired restaurant

- Dynasty serves home-style authentic Cantonese cuisine and the delicacies of the Imperial Chinese Era

- Hagi has delicious modern and classical Japanese cuisine

- Le Danang serves exquisite Vietnamese cuisine and specialities from the Da Nang region

- Suan Bua offers home-style Thai cuisine and Royal Thai specialities

- Lobby Lounge and Bar serves cold drinks, coffee and snacks

- Zing is a delicatessen and coffee shop that has a selection of hot beverages, pastries and baked items

During my stay I dined at the Suan Bua Restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed my Thai dishes. I liked the extensive buffet for breakfast in Chatuchak Cafe and the the personalized sercice of the breakfast in the Club Lounge.

I enjoyed the extensive swimming pool that was located outdoors amidst tropical gardens. Overlooking the pool was a fully-equipped fitness centre, with plenty of modern exercise equipment, a sauna, and change rooms.

The award-winning SPA Cenvaree located on the hotel’s ground floor, near the swimming pool, provides sheer pampering and absolute relaxation. There is an extensive spa menu that includes traditional aromatherapy, therapeutic massages and treatments alongside the hotel’s beauty salon. The SPA Cenvaree services are designed to either relax, rejuvenate, tone up or reinvigorate your senses. SPA Cenvaree has eight suites for singles and couples, each designed with a tranquil, urban décor. I enjoyed my Body Scrub and Aromatherapy Massage spa with tea and treats offered before and after at SPA Cenvaree. It soothingly relaxed my body and mind.

For guests travelling to Bangkok for business, the Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok offers a dedicated Business Centre and an extensive selection of event spaces and meeting venues with world-class facilities. The 17 fully-equipped suites and boardrooms can host board meetings, conferences, workshops, receptions, and product launches. The elegant pillar-less Vibhavadee Ballroom can cater for 2,000 guests for receptions, weddings or product launches and can be divided into three separate venues. Nearby is the huge Bangkok Convention Centre Hall that can cater for 3,800 people for cocktail receptions.

Central Plaza Mall has over 300 retail shops, boutiques, multiple cinemas, and parking facilities up to 3,500 vehicles. Guests staying on weekends can visit the nearby Chatuchak Market, the largest outdoor market in Bangkok.
