With the launch of its new wing containing 72 guest rooms on 15th March, Henn-na Hotel has just welcomed an additional English-speaking robot receptionist to its front desk, bringing the total number of robotic check-in staff to three, all of whom are now able to interact in English (alongside Chinese, Japanese and Korean). Making check-in time even more bizarre than ever, the fun for guests does not stop at the welcome desk. After moving luggage to the room by automatic machine, customers will be welcomed by Tulip – the in-room robot. Whereas Tulip could only previously interact with Japanese customers, she will now be able to perform functions based on English language commands, and answer English questions about the weather or time.
With plans for air-wheel rental services which will help guests to feel they have truly stepped forward in time, Hen na Hotel’s robotic services are quickly expanding.
Huis Ten Bosch will additionally be launching a pre-opening of ‘Kingdom of Tulip – Henn-na hotelRobot’ between 29th April and 5th May 2016– an expansion plan which includes a robot museum, shop and robot restaurant, where the chef and store manager are – you’ve guessed it – 100% man made, with robotic chefs whipping up food and android barmen with cocktail-making know how. This Kingdom will be fully open to the public by 16th July 2016, but in the meantime guests will be able to enjoy dancing robot shows, fighting robots (where visitors can wear robot suits for combat!) as well as robot rides.
