28th Joint Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for East Asia and the Pacific and the UNWTO Commission for South Asia & UNWTO Conference on Tourism and Technology

The 28th Joint Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for East Asia and the Pacific and the UNWTO Commission for South Asia & UNWTO Conference on Tourism and Technology will be held in Nara, Japan from the 1 – 4 June 2016.

The 28th CAP/CSA Joint meeting is UNWTO´s principal annual event in the Asia Pacific Region, attended last year by over 60 representatives from UNWTO Member States and more than 30 UNWTO Affiliate Members and numerous international and regional organizations.Key topics this year will include:

• UNWTO´s Programme of Work for the Region
• Tourism and Ethics
• International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development 2017
• ST-EP International Orgasnization
• Tourism and Security
• Other statutory issues related to the UNWTO Asia-Pacific Member States

This year, the Joint Commission Meeting will be held in conjunction with a one-day, International conference on Tourism and Technology, which will examine the current emerging technologies that are of primary relevance to the tourism sector.

The conference will also seek to raise awareness in other sectors of the economy of the need and opportunities for new technological applications in different sectors of tourism.
