Featuring famous chefs, fine food and fabulous entertainment, this year’s Relish Food and Wine Festival at Portside Maryborough will have visitors savouring the moment.
Rated one of Queensland’s must do experiences, historic Maryborough will be at its mouth- watering best on Saturday June 4 with the staging of the annual Relish event showcasing the best produce and products from across the region, as well as local cafes and restaurants, award winning wines, craft beers and gourmet food stalls.
Maryborough’s magnificent Portside precinct – incorporating Queens Park, Mary River Parklands, heritage streetscapes and the Mary River – serves as the distinctive backdrop for a day of indulgence.
One of Australia’s most popular chefs, Matt Golinski, headlines and will be conducting a number of cooking demonstrations throughout the day, as well as a Meet and Greet session at Gatakers Artspace from 3-4pm.
Well known as one of the original team members of the popular Ready Steady Cook television series, Matt has worked as executive chef at some of Queensland’s leading restaurants and founded his own catering company.
Matt Golinski said he is always proud to showcase local produce in south east Queensland.
‘Food is such an important part of our lifestyle as Queenslanders and there is nothing better than being able to support our local producers, farmers and retailers. I’m really excited to cook with the world class produce the Fraser Coast has to offer’, said Mr Golinski.
Other leading chefs shining the spotlight on the Fraser Coast’s regional food story at Relish include 2013 My Kitchen Rules champions Dan and Steph Mulheron, Michael Cox from Muddy Waters Café, Nick Street-Brown and Hajime Horiguchi from COAST Bar and Restaurant, Rocco Turina from Villa Cavour and Saul Collins from The Vinyard.
Dan Mulheron will also host a special sausage making masterclass, with all festival goers going into the draw to win a sausage-making machine from the Good Guys.
Mara and Rocco Turina from Villa Cavour Bed and Breakfast will be showcasing their fare in a pasta making demonstration in the Food Lovers Marquee.
Mara said it was a great opportunity for them to show the Fraser Coast what they had to offer.
‘Relish is a great event that is progressing and developing each year. It’s exciting watching and helping Relish grow into one of regional Queensland’s best food and wine festivals’, said Mrs Turina.
Marketing Manager for Fraser Coast Opportunities, Bradley Nardi, said attendees could also tempt their tastebuds and take a journey through the region’s best produce at various ticketed sessions on the day.
Sessions include the Bubbles on the Boat Mary River cruise with local sparkling wines and cheese platters ($35 per person), plus separate wine and beer matching sessions featuring local wines from Vintner’s Secret, Yenda craft beer and delicious canapes from Muddy Waters Café ($35 per person).
Following the festival’s success in recent years, Mr Nardi said Relish was well on its way to becoming one of regional South East Queensland’s signature food and wine festivals.
“Relish provides the total foodie festival experience, from seasonal produce and local seafood such as delicious Hervey Bay Scallops and Fraser Island prawns, wine and cheese tastings and beer and food matching sessions.
“Add to that cooking demonstrations from innovative chefs, wine masterclasses, cheese making demonstrations, live music, kids entertainment and more – visitors are sure to savour the moment,’’ Mr Nardi said.
Relish Food and Wine Festival is on Saturday June 4 at Portside Maryborough from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
