Fraser Coast Instameet to promote the region

Instagram has revolutionised social media since starting in 2010, with 300 million users and over 60 million images shared each day. The image sharing platform was bought in 2012 by Facebook for $1 billion.

Since 2011, Instameets have been popular with Instagrammers and photographers from around the world meeting to capture images and connect through the power of social media.

Fraser Coast Opportunities will be hosting an Instameet as part of the worldwide event on Saturday 3rd October from 7.30am at WetSide Waterpark.

The Fraser Coast Instameet will provide an opportunity for locals to have their images featured on the Fraser Coast and Queensland Instagrams, with a combined following of over 230,000 followers.

An Instameet is where Instagrammers and photographers from all over the world gather in different locations, at a set time to take photos and upload them to social media.

Councillor for Events, Sport, Recreation and Open Spaces, Darren Everard, said it is a great opportunity to showcase the Fraser Coast to the world.

‘Come along, take some images and use the Fraser Coast hashtags. It will be a fun
morning of meeting with other local photographers and Instagrammers’, said Cr Everard.

The Instameet will be held at WetSide Waterpark from 7.30am to capture the stunning morning light over the ocean.

If you can’t make it on the day, participate from anywhere across the region by using the following hashtags:

#visitfrasercoast #visitfraserisland #whalesherveybay
#fishingfrasercoast
