Princess Cruises Planning another Ship for China

Sapphire Princess
Princess Cruise is currently building a 3,600-passenger ship slated for delivery to China in 2017, with deployment there full-time.

The yet-to-be named ship will now be joined by yet another Princess Cruises ship – the Golden Princess – which was just announced will be sailing seasonal cruises from Tianjin in 2016.

The cruise line’s Sapphire Princess, which currently runs seasonal cruises in China, will be upgraded to year-round cruises from Shanghai starting in 2016.

Both the Sapphire and the Golden Princess carry approximately 2,600 passengers.

The three Princess Cruises ships planned for China are among other major cruise lines focused on the booming destination, including Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas ship, which is stationed year-round in Shanghai; Carnival Cruises’ China fleet; and Costa Cruises’ four ships slated to be based in China in 2016.
