Visit local artists in their native habitat. Moab artists open their studio 10 am – 4 pm both Saturday and Sunday, September 5-6, to welcome aficionado or not to conversation, visual treats of works and works in progress. Fourteen artists participate in the Moab Artists Studio Tour event this year. If this weekend is missed plan to attend the Moab Artwalk held on the second Saturday of September, October and November. Moab Artwalk will feature regional artists in various venues in downtown from 6 pm – 9 pm. Then the 5th Annual Native American rug auction is a draw for those desiring guaranteed authenticity of a rug or for those who own rugs and desire the free appraisal. No admission to browse these gorgeous Native American weaves at 10 am in the Grand Center in Moab. The auction begins at 1 pm. A gathering of Plein Air artists occurs October 5-10 with ample opportunity for public involvement at special receptions, art sales, and interaction with the artists. Later in October on the 17th, a Gourd Festival is held in Castle Valley from 10 am – 3 pm. It has all kinds of activities, a silent auction, raw and decorative gourds for sale, puppet show and parade. It is sure to delight young and old alike. While enjoying the parks, be sure to stop in at the Big Horn Gallery in the visitor center of Dead Horse Point State Park. There is always an interesting exhibit there. Hours are approximately 8 am – 6 pm to view the Big Horn Gallery.
Music is also at the heart of the canyon country this time of year. Chamber and jazz concerts are held in stunning settings during September 3-14, 2015. World class musicians play old and new music from around the globe, such is the caliber of the Moab Music Festival. The Pride Festival holds a free concert in Swanny City Park on September 26. Come on out, enjoy the shade and the lawn from noon until 6 pm. Listeners enamored with folk music should plan to be in Moab for November 6-8 2015. Indoor concerts are held in the evenings. Weekend days the Moab Folk Festival is held outdoors with vendors, educational outreach and food. Simultaneously, those of Scottish descent gather at the Old Spanish Trail Arena for highland games, vendor booths, bagpipe and dancing contests. Learn about clans at the Moab Celtic Festival.
More dancing is featured during a fund raiser by the Moab Valley Multicultural Center as 'Dancing with the Moab Stars' is produced. Local personalities are paired for a delightful evening of entertainment at the Grand County High School Auditorium October 16 at 7 pm.

Let's not leave out film! Radical Reels brings the Banff high adrenaline shorts to the High School Auditorium for the enjoyment of locals and visitors alike on October 10 at 7 pm. At the end of the month, the Moab Ho-Down Mountain Bike Festival includes a film festival based on biking, of course! Most notable the Moab International Film Festival has moved its autumn September date almost into wintertime, to November 20 – 23, 2015. But wintertime is so mild in Moab averaging a mere inch of snow in November, January and February, possibly three inches in December. Buy $5 tickets for each film or buy the three day film festival pass for $30. Films will be shown at Historic Star Hall in downtown Moab.
