The 2015 Dungog Festival has been officially launched with a program celebrating film, music and the region's finest produce set to bring visitors to the Upper Hunter.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said he was delighted to join Dungog Festival organisers in the town to announce key highlights from the program.
“I congratulate the Dungog Festival on delivering a fantastic program for the second year of this wonderful regional festival,” Mr Ayres said.
“Highlights from this year's festival include the Starry Night Concert which will be headlined by ARIA Award winning DJ Paul Mac, a screening of Muppet History 101 - a film showcasing the history of Jim Henson's Muppets, and the Long Table Dinner, a fantastic outdoor dining event which celebrates the region's finest produce.
“Coordinated by the people of Dungog, the festival is a tribute to the resilience and community spirit of this wonderful regional town, and I wish everyone all the best for another fantastic festival.”
Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said the town's long association with film was at the heart of the festival's program.
“Dungog is home to the oldest still-operating, purpose-built cinema in Australia, the James Theatre, and the Dungog Festival celebrates this association with a program of Australian and international film screenings and programs to showcase emerging and student filmmakers,” Mr Johnsen said.
“I encourage visitors planning to attend the festival to take advantage of the Gold Pass tickets available which provide access to the 12 films playing at the James Theatre, Long Table Dinner and Starry Night Concert.”
The Dungog Festival will be held from Thursday 22 October to Sunday 25 October, 2015.
