The Sydney NRMA 500 is taking to the streets of Sydney Olympic Park this weekend, and will see the superstars of the race track – representing Ford, Holden, Nissan, Volvo and Erebus Motorsport – compete to take home the silverware and vie for a top spot in this year’s V8 Supercars Championship.
Earlier this week NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Troy Grant welcomed V8 Supercar legends Marcos Ambrose and Jamie Whincup to Sydney ahead of this weekend’s races.
“I am delighted to welcome to Sydney reigning Champion Jamie Whincup and Marcos Ambrose – who is returning to the sport for the first time since his stint driving in NASCAR in the US – ahead of this weekend’s showdown,” Mr Grant said.
“The Sydney NRMA 500 has been secured by the NSW Government until 2016 as a key event on the sporting calendar and is an important event for Western Sydney that attracts thousands of visitors each year,” he said.
Fans will also be pleased to know the NSW Government has secured three events as part of the V8 Supercar Championship for Western Sydney in 2015, including; the sydney.com V8 SuperTest season opener, the Sydney Motorsport Park SuperSprint and the Sydney 500.
