Flower and book street to welcome in the New Year

The annual Flower and Book Street Festival 2015 will open in Ho Chi Minh City from February 16 to 22 along Ham Nghi Street instead of Nguyen Hue Street due to construction of the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line No. 1 and Nguyen Hue walking street.

The flower and book street, which aims to highlight the city's culture, has been held for 11 consecutive years, attracting more than one million visitors to each event.

A section of Ham Nghi Street from Quach Thi Trang Roundabout to Ho Tung Mau Street will be decorated under the theme "Vietnamese Identity and Spirit".

The event will feature vegetable-art installations, souvenir display, and soft drink stalls on the pavements, in front of restaurants and hotels along Ham Nghi, Nguyen Hue, Huynh Thuc Khang, and Ho Tung Mau streets.

The motorcycle lane on Ham Nghi Street will be turned into a pedestrian-only street on February 22 to make way for performing arts groups.

A book fair featuring books about the city's milestones and books for visually-impaired will be organised in the road section between Ho Tung Mau Street and Ton Duc Thang Street.
