The ICC Cricket World Cup trophy has made a surprise appearance in the Blue Mountains, Parramatta and the Southern Highlands in a prelude to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 tournament which will be held in Australia and New Zealand during February and March of next year.
Local Member for Parramatta, Geoff Lee and Local Member for Blue Mountains, Roza Sage joined local cricketers and supporters to pose with the trophy and discuss Australia’s favourite summer game ahead of an official national tour of international cricket’s most prized accolade later this year.
During the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, a global television audience of more than 1 billion people will tune in as tens of thousands of international and interstate visitors join fans from around NSW to watch the cream of world cricket compete in Sydney.
Sydney will host five matches, including two finals during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, welcoming sides from South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, England, Afghanistan and Australia.
