Thala Beach Lodge

Thala Beach Lodge sits on 58 hectares of beachfront native forest 15 minutes south of Port Douglas, 45 minutes north of Cairns. Access is via the scenic coastal drive along Captain Cook Highway, considered one of Australia's 'great drives'.

Sitting atop a headland with stunning vistas across the Coral Sea, Thala Beach Lodge has proudly achieved the highest accreditation of eco-certification through sustainable practice and environmental sensitivity. Ancient littoral rainforest, casuarinas and mangroves lap the beach while eucalypt woodlands and a coconut plantation occupy inland creeks and higher ground. The eco resort is surrounded by World Heritage coastline and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park on the seaward side.

Boutique timber bungalows are built high on stilts within the forest canopy providing private immersion within nature. All bungalows enjoy ocean, mountain or forest views. Two lagoon pools are designed to blend in with the natural vegetation, plus there's 1.5 km of unspoilt Oak Beach. Ospreys Restaurant has developed a reputation for serving world class modern Australian cuisine in a glorious open sided pavilion overlooking the forest canopy and Coral Sea beyond. Ranger guided nature tours add to the overall guest experience where nature takes centre stage.
