2014 Sacramento Farm-to-Fork Week Celebration
Sacramento Farm-to-Fork Week celebration takes place September 13-28, 2014 and highlights the region's culinary scene with daily restaurant specials, farm dinners, street fairs and other exciting events.  The Farm-to-Fork Festival on September 27 features food, wine and beer vendors, along with educational displays, kids' activities, cooking demonstrations, live music and more. The inaugural event in 2013 attracted more than 25,000 people. A Gala Dinner on the iconic Tower Bridge will conclude the Farm-to-Fork Week celebration on September 28, 2014.   www.Farmtofork.com

Sacramento Ranks in Top 10 U.S. Cycling Towns
Readers of USA Today and 10Best chose the winners and Sacramento's neighbor Davis garnered the top spot. Sacramento is home to the longest urban bike trail in the nation, the 32-mile Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail along the scenic American River.  Sacramento has hosted the Amgen Tour of California several times and bike lanes are plentiful throughout the area.  http://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-u-s-cycling-town/

Raley Field to Add Private Event Space
The Sacramento River Cats will develop a new 5,000–square-foot private club space overlooking left field at Raley Field for the 2015 season. The Legacy Club will be built in existing stadium space after this season ends and will be available for private events. Raley Field is home of the Sacramento River Cats, the farm team for the Oakland A's. www.rivercats.com

Professional Soccer Comes to Sacramento
The Sacramento Republic FC played its first season at Cal Expo's new Bonney Field. Major League Soccer representatives are planning to visit Sacramento in September 2014 to evaluate a future MLS franchise in the city.  www.sacrepublicfc.com

2014 Marks 175th Anniversary of Sutter's Arrival
John Sutter's landing on the American River in 1839 marked the beginning of an exciting chapter in California's history. He built Sutter's Fort that same year and gold was discovered in 1848 in the Sierra Nevada which started one of the greatest migrations in human history…the California Gold Rush. Dig It! The Secrets of Soil at the California Museum
Developed by the Soil Science Center of America and designed by the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, this traveling exhibit explores soils and the cultures that connect us to them through interactive displays including cartoons, movies, art and more. California State Railroad Museum Showcases Award-Winning Photographs
The California State Railroad Museum is proud to showcase the impressive award-winning photographs from the prestigious Center for Railroad Photography & Art's 2013 John E. Gruber Creative Photography Awards Program.  Nearly 100 photographers from all over the world submitted entries for this 11th annual competition, which resulted in a diverse and visually compelling collection of rail-related photographs. Historic Governor's Mansion Completes Renovation
California's Historic Governor's Mansion has been open for tours for many years, but the third floor hasn't been open to the public in decades. After a multi-year restoration, the third floor will now be included in all Mansion tours. As background, a piece of the original crown molding was uncovered a number of years ago that revealed the original paint colors. The discovery spurred a renovation effort to re-create the third floor to its original 1877 splendor. The Historic Governor's Mansion was home to 13 governors from 1903 to 1967 when then-Governor Ronald Reagan and wife Nancy were the last to live there. www.historicgovernorsmansion.org

California State Parks Opens Museum Collection Center
State Park's latest conservation effort is the relocation of California's Statewide Museum Collections Center to an LEED certified building that enhances climate and humidity control to ensure greater preservation capacity for over one million historic objects and artifacts recovered from archaeological excavations in the State Parks System. The Center has rotating exhibits of historic and cultural artifacts throughout the year. Tours are available by reservation only and may be arranged by e-mailing California State Parks at smcc.tours@parks.ca.gov.

Downtown Sacramento Venues offer Wine Tasting
The Sacramento region is home to more than 200 wineries and tasting rooms and is quickly gaining a reputation as a popular wine-tasting destination. No worries if time is too limited to explore the wineries out of town. Several downtown venues now offer tastes of regional wines. There's the Underground Tasting Room in Old Sacramento, Railbridge Cellars, Revolution Wines, 58 Degrees & Holding in Midtown, Downtown & Vine near the Convention Center. Old Sacramento Underground Tours
Hidden beneath the city for nearly 150 years, Old Sacramento's underground has long been the capital's best-kept secret.  Today, you can join thousands of residents and visitors in uncovering the facts behind the legends that lie below our buildings and sidewalks.  Explore excavated foundations and enclosed pathways while your tour guide recounts the tales of the devastation, perseverance, and determination that led to California's only successful street-raising project.  The regularly scheduled tours will continue through November 2014 and will resume in March 2015. Sacramento Walking Tours Offer Glimpse of California History, Art and Architecture
These unique tours through downtown Sacramento introduce visitors to the people, places and events that shaped California history. From John Sutter to Cesar Chavez, these tours cover more than 150 years of state and local history. Topics range from art and architecture to cultural, religious and urban history. Kudos for Sacramento International Airport (SMF)
The airy, four-level Central Terminal B, a $1 billion project, displays an energy efficient and environmentally conscious design that has received LEED certification. The project includes an $8 million public art program, most notably the 56-foot “Red Rabbit”.  SMF ranks among the best U.S. airports for public art according to USA Today's Readers' Choice. SMF recently won a national design award for its concession program for medium-sized airports and has been ranked as the 5th most tech-friendly commercial airport in the country by PC World magazine. "Terminal B is packed with outlets and USB ports, elevating the smallish airport into our top five."  SMF was among the first in the U.S. to offer free Wi-Fi and was recently named 4th best airport in North America for customer service by Airports Council International (ACI), the international trade association for commercial airports. www.sacramento.aero/smf

Crocker Art Museum Update 
The Crocker Art Museum is the first art museum in the Western United States founded in 1885.  One of the leading art institutions in California, the collection includes Californian, European, Asian, African and Oceanic works, international ceramics and one of the finest early collections of master drawings in the United States.

The Museum opened its $100 million expansion that tripled the size of the existing facility and added much-needed gallery space and visitor amenities. The new building also creates one of the largest event spaces in Sacramento with indoor/outdoor seating for 1,200. State-of-the-art education and program facilities include a 260-seat auditorium and meeting center, studio art spaces and a children's interactive gallery. The museum offers an enhanced gift shop and a café and features concerts, films, lectures, family and children's activities.www.crockerartmuseum.org
