South Korean celebrity chef Edward Kwon, the Asian republic’s leading culinary personality, is the first major international masterchef confirmed for the sixth edition of Gourmet Abu Dhabi, the emirate’s 16-day culinary festival, which runs February 4-19 next year.
Chef Kwon – who says he’s ‘on a mission’ to globalise Korean cuisine – will use his skills to ‘convert’ gourmet lovers to his homeland’s fare during a four-day restaurant promotion at Park Rotana’s Teatro (February 5-8). The 41-year-old culinary star is renowned for diversifying his country’s traditional dishes by accentuating century-old favourites with a variety of Western and European techniques and ingredients.
