Blue Heeler Film Festival

Are you a budding film director and want an opportunity to screen your work? The Blue Heeler Film Festival will be held in Muswellbrook and Denman these April School Holidays and invites you to participate. The festival will include four film screening events and a short film competition open to ALL residents of the Muswellbrook Shire.

This April will see the very first Blue Heeler Film Festival, featuring screenings of new and classic movies over four nights and a short film competition. The Festival will be held 14-21 April 2013 in Muswellbrook and Denman NSW Australia.

Blue Heeler Film Festival Events

The Blue Heeler Film Festival will provide a series of film screenings over the April 2013 school holidays, a short film competition in three categories and the opportunity to vote for the Australian actor you think best reflects the character of the Muswellbrook Shire.

Junior Short Film Competition

Short film entries from movie makers aged 13 years and under will be screened at an outdoor family event, followed by a classic family movie made by grownups.

Senior Short Film Competition

Local filmmakers aged 14-17 can enter this category, with all entries to be screened at an evening event hosted by the fabulous Muswellbrook art crowd.

Open Short Film Competition

This category is open to movie makers aged 18 and over, with a screening to be held at the races and followed by two motion picture classics.

Closing Event

The final event for this year’s Blue Heeler Film Festival is the Competition Final, to be held in the appropriately scenic Denman. All competition entrants will be invited to walk the red carpet, and the winning films in each category will be screened as part of the awards ceremony. The overall winner, with the best and most creative use of the competition theme across all categories, will be awarded the most awesome of prizes: The Bluey.

Short Film Comp

Create a short film, no longer than 7 minutes, based on the theme 'Where I Live'. This competition is open to all residents of Muswellbrook Shire. There are three categories for this competition with prizes for each category...
  • Junior (ages up to 13yrs)
  • Senior (ages 14-17yrs)
  • Open (18yrs plus)

This is the first ever Blue Heeler Film Festival, and to celebrate this wondrous happening all the events are free. This year there will be an opportunity to give agold coin donation to go towards a bigger, funner festival in 2014.
