A Golden Crust Farewell: The Heartwarming Legacy of Robertson Pie Shop

Robertson Pie Shop
A Highlands Icon Bids Farewell

This weekend, a beloved chapter closes in the Southern Highlands. The legendary Robertson Pie Shop, a cherished stop for road trippers, holidaymakers and hungry locals, will wave goodbye to its long-time owners, Will and Jenny Bleeker. After nearly 46 years of hard work, community connection, and mouthwatering pies, the Bleeker family is stepping into a well-earned retirement.

Set on the Illawarra Highway, with views across rolling hills and sweeping countryside, the Robertson Pie Shop has become more than just a bakery—it’s a destination. For decades, the scent of fresh pastry and the welcoming faces of the Bleeker family have greeted travellers from across New South Wales and beyond.

A Family Story, Baked with Love

The story began in 1979 when Will’s parents, John and Cora Bleeker, purchased the modest roadside shop. Cora, remembered for her dedication and strength, played a central role in building the business from the ground up. John, though no longer here, remains a strong presence in the shop’s legacy.

Will and Jenny continued their family’s dream, turning the small pie shop into an essential part of the Robertson experience. With help from their children—Katie, Chloe and Peter—the shop grew, thrived and maintained a sense of home that kept customers coming back year after year.

Farewell, But Not Goodbye

Though the business has now been sold, the Bleeker touch will remain. Their son Peter will stay on to work with the new owners, helping maintain the traditions that built the shop’s reputation. There’s comfort in knowing that while change is coming, the heart of Robertson Pie Shop will still beat strong.

In a heartfelt thank you, Will and Jenny expressed their deep gratitude to their loyal customers and dedicated staff—past and present. They credit the success of the shop to the people who supported them over nearly half a century.

A Place That Felt Like Home

For many, Robertson Pie Shop was never just about the food. It was about the memories—midway stops on long drives, family picnics on the lawn, hot coffee on cold mornings. It was a place where people felt known, even if they were just passing through.

As Will and Jenny prepare for retirement, their story serves as a reminder that some of the best travel stops are the ones that offer more than just good food—they offer heart, heritage and hospitality.
