| MEETINGS 2025 |
At MEETINGS 2025, innovation and inspiration found a home in the Tourism New Zealand Knowledge and Destination Hub. Designed as a central space for insight, education, and connection, the Hub brought together voices from across Aotearoa to share what made each region distinctive—and why New Zealand continued to be a world-class destination for business events.
Across the two-day event, the Hub hosted a curated series of 15-minute presentations that blended regional highlights with global trends. The format was quick, accessible, and deeply informative, offering planners a powerful way to stay informed, inspired, and connected with the evolving landscape of business events.
Fourteen Regions, Countless Possibilities
Fourteen diverse regions took to the stage, each bringing their own flavour of innovation, culture, and opportunity. From the alpine beauty of Queenstown to the creative vibrancy of Wellington, the geothermal wonders of Rotorua to the coastal energy of Auckland, each presentation offered something unique.
Attendees discovered new developments, attractions, and venues across the country. They also gained insight into how each destination could support event delivery with authenticity, character, and a strong sense of place—helping planners match their event goals with the right regional experience.
Timely Topics With Practical Value
Beyond destination updates, the Knowledge and Destination Hub explored critical industry topics. Presenters unpacked issues such as how Qualmark certification supported sustainable event delivery, and how the integration of Māori values created richer, more culturally grounded experiences.
Sessions also addressed the practicalities of international business event planning, including a helpful breakdown of New Zealand’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) and how it applied to overseas events. Other talks focused on building event revenue, navigating sponsorship, and creating long-term value in the business events space.
One-on-One With the Experts
Tourism New Zealand’s Business Events team was on hand throughout the event, offering personalised guidance and resources for planners looking to host conferences and incentive programmes in New Zealand. These one-on-one conversations provided strategic support, from bidding for international events to tapping into marketing and logistics tools.
Attendees also had the opportunity to learn more about available funding, promotional materials, and how Tourism New Zealand supported event organisers in delivering seamless, successful events that reflected the values and strengths of Aotearoa.
A Strong Focus on Sustainability and Culture
In keeping with New Zealand’s leadership in responsible tourism, recurring sessions covered the Tiaki Promise and Qualmark’s alignment with GSTC Accreditation. Presenters encouraged attendees to incorporate the Tiaki values—care for people, place, and culture—into every element of their event design.
Cultural capability remained a strong thread throughout, with several sessions exploring how to respectfully and authentically integrate Māori culture into the event experience. It was a chance for international and domestic buyers alike to see how New Zealand’s commitment to people and place could elevate the business events experience from simply effective to deeply meaningful.
