Vietnam wins big at World Travel Awards 2023

On 6th September, in Ho Chi Minh City, the World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2023 took place. Vietnam tourism is announced with 54 titles of Asia’s Leading awards 2023.

This is the 3rd time Vietnam becomes the host of the WTA Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2023, which took place for two consecutive years in Ho Chi Minh City.

The ceremony welcomes the presence of Mr. Graham Cooke - Founder and President of World Travel Awards; along with the participation of hundreds of continental travel and tourism brands and news agencies.

At the ceremony, the Organising Board announced awards categories for tourism brands in Asia and Oceania region. At the national level, Vietnam is honoured to receive “Asia’s Leading Destination 2023”. Vietnam National Authority of Tourism is excellently crowned as Asia’s Leading Tourist Board 2023.

This is the 5th time Vietnam has been crowned as “Asia’s Leading Destination”, including 3 consecutive award winners (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023), affirming the brand and special attraction of Vietnam. Vietnam National Authority of Tourism has been titled for the 4th time as Asia’s Leading Tourist Board, proving the outstanding efforts of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism in resuming and recovering Vietnam tourism post the Covid-19 pandemic, making Vietnam tourism a bright spot in the region and in the world.

Along with that, famous localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, titled Asia's Leading Festival & Event Destination 2023 and Asia's Leading Business Travel Destination 2023. Ha Noi, the capital city of Vietnam, is honoured to be crowned as Asia’s Leading City Break Destination 2023 and Asia's Leading City Destination 2023. Ha Noi Department of Tourism achieves Asia's Leading City Tourist Board 2023. Hoi An Ancient Town achieves Asia's Leading Cultural City Destination 2023. Moc Chau, for the second time in a row, exquisitely gets in their hands the Asia's Leading Regional Nature Destination 2023.

Remarkably, Phu Quoc, the pearl island of Vietnam won Asia's Leading Luxury Island Destination 2023; Ha Giang - the place where “flowers grow in rocks”, titled Asia's Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2023; Tam Chuc Complex (Ha Nam) is announced as the prizewinner of Asia's Leading Cultural Destination 2023.

Also, famous Vietnamese brands in the fields of hotels, resorts, airlines, travel agencies... are presented in the list of the WTA 2023.

He highly appreciates achievements that all the brands across the world and region have accessed and affirmed that all winners are stellar examples of tourism excellence, they are helping to raise the collective benchmark of the industry.

Vietnam is a beautiful country with its charms, rich cultural identity, with many heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, and is a favourite destination for tourists from all over the world. Including Ho Chi Minh City, where history and modernity harmonise, friendly and hospitable people, stated Mr. Graham Cooke.

The Founder and President of World Travel Awards also raved about the success of Vietnam tourism in the first 8 months of 2023. Vietnam has soon reached the goal of welcoming international tourists in 2023. The new visa policy favouring international visitors to Vietnam is a positive sign showing the great attention and support from the Vietnamese Government to the industry.
