Discover the Heart of Hawai'i: Hawaiʻi Tourism Oceania Launches Inspiring Video Series

Hawaiʻi Tourism Oceania is excited to introduce "Mālama Adventures: Journey with Aloha'', an inspiring video series that delves deep into the soul of the Hawaiian Islands.

Featuring First Nations model and activist Samantha Harris, this captivating series produced by Vocal showcases the profound connections between Hawaiian people, their sacred land, and the pristine ocean that surrounds them. It not only highlights Hawai'i's unique culture and heritage but also encourages visitors to become stewards of the islands for generations to come.

Tom Abood, Business Director at content studio Vocal said “This type of content always holds a special place in our heart - a perfect blend of travel and purpose; we’ve created a series that celebrates the very best of Hawai’i. We’re excited to be creating content that people will talk about and ultimately travel to Hawai’i to experience for themselves".

Hawai'i has always been known for its rich heritage, vibrant culture, and the genuine spirit of aloha, epitomising harmonious living with the land. Hawaiians share an authentic connection with their mountains, land, ocean, and ancestors across generations. Hawaiʻi Tourism Oceania's mission is to promote responsible tourism from Oceania to the Hawaiian Islands, emphasising that there's more to these islands than sun and surf.

In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hawai'i Tourism Oceania launched 'Mālama Hawaiʻi,' a campaign centered on the Hawaiian concept of mālama, which means to care for and protect. This initiative underscores that the relationship between people and place strengthens when we care for it. Visitors can actively participate in this virtuous circle by giving back to the land, ocean, wildlife, forests, fishponds, and communities. Hawai'i offers numerous opportunities for visitors to make a positive impact, from participating in beach clean-ups to native tree planting and the restoration of native fishponds.

'Mālama Adventures: Journey with Aloha' takes this ethos to the next level. Through a series of videos covering the island of Hawai'i, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu and Maui plus three additional videos focusing on the ocean (moana), community (kaiāulu), and land (āina), the project offers an intimate look at the deep connections Hawaiians share with their environment. From swimming with sharks on Oʻahu with One Ocean Diving to exploring the National Tropical Botanical Gardens on Kauaʻi and learning to surf with Maui Surfer Girls, these videos inspire viewers to become stewards of this remarkable paradise.

Jennifer Gaskin, Account Director at Hawaiʻi Tourism Oceania, expressed her enthusiasm: "We're thrilled to launch this amazing video series, transporting viewers to the heart and soul of Hawai'i. The content not only showcases the islands' beauty but also highlights the profound connections that make Hawai'i truly special. We invite travellers to become part of this enduring bond and contribute to the preservation of Hawai'i's natural and cultural treasures."

The videos are now available to the public HERE and will be shared across Hawai'i Tourism Oceania's social media platforms.
