Prepare to be mesmerised by the ethereal beauty of the fireflies in Tottori Prefecture

At Fukumaki, a scenic firefly-viewing site in the town of Nichinan, these luminous creatures put on a magical summer light show as they dance and flicker around the mountainous area once twilight sets in.

Dedicated to preserving the firefly ecosystem while providing a pleasant experience for visitors, measures are being taken by local authorities, such as maintaining the observation routes and setting traffic regulations in an effort to minimise disturbance to the fireflies.

The firefly season typically runs from late June until mid-July. Be sure to plan your visit between 8pm to 9pm for the optimal viewing experience.
