The number of tourists making reservations at German hotels and short-term rentals recorded in 2022 aligns with figures from 2019, indicating that tourist rates have almost fully rebounded, data from the four leading online booking platforms reveals.

According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), a total of 38.6 million overnight stays were booked from online booking platforms such as Booking.com, Airbnb, TripAdvisor and Expedia, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Moreover, 2.5 million tourists visited Germany last December, which is 200,000 fewer arrivals than in December 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic took the world by storm.

Data also show that the difference in terms of tourist arrivals recorded in 2019 and 2022, respectively, is even more minor in November, as in November 2019 and November 2022, two million tourists reached the country.
