The Ancient Nakasendo Road

If you’re looking for a glimpse of Japan’s rich cultural heritage, consider a visit to one of the many historic post towns along on the Nakasendo Road, an ancient highway that once linked Kyoto and Tokyo.

One such town is Narai-juku (pictured), which is nestled in the Kiso Valley in Nagano Prefecture.

It is the longest post town in Japan, stretching for about one kilometre long.

Whether you're browsing the local shops, sampling the delicious cuisine, or simply enjoying the serene surroundings, this idyllic town is a fantastic destination to add to your bucket list.
