GARDEN CITY BLOOMS AS TRAVELLERS WELCOME BONZA’S NEW MELBOURNE TO TOOWOOMBA ROUTE

Travellers will be able to stop and smell the roses with Bonza launching a direct Melbourne to Toowoomba Wellcamp route. The historic flight departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) Monday morning packed with travellers eager to make the most of the remaining Victorian school holidays. The new route will operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with flights starting from $79 per person one way.

“Connecting more Australians to new destinations is what Bonza is all about. Today, we give the people of Melbourne and Toowoomba new reasons to explore their own backyard. Toowoomba is a bustling inland city famed for its hundreds of picturesque parks, gardens and annual Flower Festival. With a direct low-cost flight to Melbourne, Toowoomba locals can catch more of their favourite sporting events, cultural shows or indulge in the cuisine capital," said Tim Jordan, CEO at Bonza who was at Toowoomba Wellcamp to welcome the historic flight.

On Wednesday this week, twice-weekly flights between Toowoomba Wellcamp and Townsville start with fares from $69 per person one way. On Friday, locals in Toowoomba will have even more choice for tropical getaways with direct flights to Whitsunday Coast Airport kicking off. Flights to the Whitsundays are on sale from $59 per person one way.

John Wagner, Chairman of Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, was thrilled to fly on Bonza Airlines’ first flight from Melbourne and expressed his optimism, “Bonza’s Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport route will be in demand for travellers wanting to see more of what the Darling Downs and Granite Belt have to offer.

“The direct connections to North Queensland and Victoria will allow residents direct travel for business, leisure, study and visiting family and friends. Inbound visitors can also see our beautiful region and experience our impressive tourism industry, injecting millions into our economy and creating additional jobs. We strongly encourage the community to take advantage of these fantastic new flights to visit loved ones and explore the Downs.”

Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos commented on today’s milestone: “Both Melbourne and Toowoomba are known for their gardens and street art, so a low-cost connection between our two cities feels like a natural fit.

“As Australia’s capital of culture, food and sport, Melbourne has so much to offer visitors from Queensland, but we know Victorians are just as keen to explore other parts of the country and this will help open up Toowoomba, the Darling Downs and Queensland’s south-west.”

Travellers are encouraged to download the Fly Bonza app which is the only place to book direct.
