The Coronation of King Charles III, London

The coronation of Charles III will take place in Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May, with the Archbishop of Canterbury leading the service.

Charles’s wife Camilla will also be crowned as Queen Consort during the ancient religious ceremony, which has largely remained the same for 10 centuries. 

On Sunday 7 May, 10,000 people will be in the grounds of Windsor Castle for the Coronation Concert, which will also be broadcast live across the BBC network for audiences. 

Among the celebrations : 

The Coronation, London and on big screens 6 May 2023 

The Coronation will take place at Westminster Abbey in London following a procession from Buckingham Palace known as ‘The King’s Procession’. 

After the Service, their Majesties and other members of the Royal Family will return to the palace in a larger ceremonial procession known as ‘The Coronation Procession’, before appearing on the balcony as a finale to the day’s events. 

For those not in the capital, big screens around the country will be showing the event.


Celebrations will also take place throughout the UK over the Bank Holiday Weekend 6 to 8 May 2023.
