If you follow our social media channels on LinkedIn and Facebook, you have seen that we were very active, focusing on action and connection over the past months.
After the successful hosting of our Destination Mekong Summit 2022 on 14-16 December, our Chief Marketing Officer Gerrit conducted three digital marketing trainings in Vietnam in partnership with the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Program (SSTP).
All recordings of the 2022 DMS sessions are now online here. Again, we would like to thank all our partners and speakers for their contribution in making our event a valuable platform for our community.
Gerrit actively represented Destination Mekong at FITUR in Madrid in January, and ITB in Berlin in March.
On 25 March, we co-hosted the first Destination Siem Reap Networking Day together with the Siem Reap Tourism Club.On 22 and 23 March, we played an active part in the Tourism Innovation Summit 2023 where we signed a partnership agreement with GIZ ICONE.
We also started organizing workshops for our members, with the first event, "Benchmarking and Goal Setting Through Social Media", by Clemy Balasoto from Phoenix Lab Asia taking place on 24 March. The next workshop will be on "Branding Your Tourism Business For Success in 2023" by Danny Cohanpour from Trove Tourism Development Advisors on 3 May 2023.
On 30 March, I moderated a panel session on 'Tourism qualification and career path development for tourism professionals and low-skilled workers' at the Hospitality Kampuchea - Hoka Skills Day 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. On the same day, I lead a panel on 'Greater Mekong Sub-region promoting innovation and cooperation in tourism towards sustainable economic growth' at the Global Tourism Forum Earth at the invitation of Dr. Taleb Rifau, former UNWTO Secretary-General.
Finally, I will speak at the panel on Women’s Empowerment – the Center Stage of Tourism Recovery during the upcoming 2023 Mekong Mekong Tourism Forum in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
Most importantly, I had the immense pleasure to meet some of you during business trips to Luang Prabang, Lao PDR in January and Hue/Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, in February.
I look forward to getting in touch with you during my trips in the region and at events, and to welcoming you as new members and supporters of our journey towards championing the Greater Mekong Sub-region as an attractive destination creating value for all.
