OVID-19 & LAOS' ELEPHANTS: A Small Contribution to a Jumbo Cause

Despite a low number of COVID-19 cases officially reported in Laos, the country has been in lockdown since the end of March and tourists have cancelled their visits to the Elephant Conservation Center (ECC). With visitors representing 85% of our revenue, we are facing difficult times. Moreover, the crisis has been striking during the so-called “high tourist season”, leaving us with at least 8-9 difficult months ahead, as no visitors are expected to be back before the end of the year.

Despite the challenges, we believe we can hold on, but a small contribution from you would greatly help us keep both our conservation and educational work alive.

You came to the ECC and loved it. We would like to be able to welcome you again and open our doors to more guests in the future, as elephants are threatened by many problems, including forgetfulness. Not seeing elephants means forgetting them. Leaving the door open for them being trafficked or overworked in poor conditions, driving them to extinction.

ECC’s mission, beyond its conservation work, gives great importance to the opportunity to meet elephants in their natural habitat.
A once-in-a-lifetime experience that leaves lasting imprints for some visitors and changes the trajectory of lives for others.

COVID-19 has required us to reshuffle our agenda. We need your help.

During these challenging times, we fear the impact it will have on the Asian captive elephant population can be devastating and we believe our project brings real hope for their survival.

We are asking people who have visited the ECC and all those who know our work to contribute to this Fund Raiser: “A Small Contribution to a Jumbo Cause” and to share our campaign as broadly as possible.

We know times are challenging for so many people and we appreciate any amount you are able to give.

This will allow us to continue to care after our 34 elephants.

Our goal is to raise $85,000 (about 80,000 €) to support part of the Center's operating costs during the next 8 months.

Thank you greatly for your support and we wish you continued good health.

Sincerely,
The ECC Team
