If you want to immerse yourself in culture there are 44 museums to choose from, over 6,000 shops and 32 markets to browse for shopaholics, and for night owls there are 1,500+ bars, cafés and clubs. Families can enjoy a fabulous zoo in the heart of the city and get outdoors at one of the 40 parks or a great selection of urban beaches accessible by public transport.
What’s more, Eurostar have recently launched a new direct service from Amsterdam to London, which now takes under 4 hours and is only £35 each way (approx. $70), available from 30th April.
2020 calendar events not to miss:
- 27th April: Kings Day in honour of King Willem-Alexander’s birthday is renowned for being one of the biggest and most colourful festivities. Endless street parades, carnivals, markets, dancing - the lot!
- 12th, 14th & 16th May: Eurovision 2020 Song Contest - Whilst in the country, why not take the opportunity to visit Rotterdam and be a part of the ever entertaining contest’s 65th anniversary!
- 16th May: Gin Festival - Sample hundreds of brands of botanical gins, taste-tempting tonics or guzzle genevers. The programme also includes seminars, masterclasses, a speakeasy club and live music.
- 4th - 28th June: Holland Festival is the biggest international performing arts festival in the Netherlands, comprising of theatre shows, music, opera and modern dance.
- 25th - 27th July: Pride Amsterdam is a weekend full of street parties and the famous Canal Parade - perfect for those party people!
