The Vietnamese government issued a resolution to approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on establishing the China-Asean Centre signed in 2017, Vietnam News Agency has reported.

In August 2017, the foreign minister of China, and foreign ministers or their representatives of 10 Asean member states signed the amended version of the MOU in Manila, Philippines, where they gathered for a meeting and agreed to build a higher level China-Asean strategic partnership.

The China-Asean Centre was inaugurated in 2011 as an inter-governmental organization in a bid to promote cooperation between China and the Asean in multiple fields including trade, investment, education, culture and tourism.

The Vietnamese government has asked the foreign ministry to conduct diplomatic procedures in line with regulations and work closely with related ministries and agencies to realise the MOU, the news agency reported.
