HOTEL FIGUEROA
Guests who check in to Hotel Figueroa are in for a treat. In Feb 2018, Hotel Figueroa re-opened following an extensive renovation. The property first opened in 1926 and originally served as an exclusive women's hostelry by the YWCA. According to an LA Times article, the hotel was "financed, built and operated by and for femininity" and served as a haven for women travelers. Maude Bouldin was the hotel’s first managing director and is also recognized as the country’s first-ever female managing director.

Today, Hotel Figueroa’s public areas showcase a roster of L.A.-based female artists at varying stages of their careers. The hotel’s art program acts as a platform to support emerging artists while showcasing the talents of local artists who have exhibited and been collected internationally. A variety of artwork has been showcased in the past from Jesse Mockrin and Whitney Hubbs to Sarah Awad.

Known for her appearances on Top Chef, Restaurant Startup, Cutthroat Kitchen and Iron chef America, Lofaso has taken L.A. by storm and made a name for herself in the City of Angels. Dubbed by Eater L.A. as Downtown’s most exciting new restaurant and lounge, DAMA serves top-notch cocktails and exceptional food inspired by Lofaso’s travels to Latin America and the Caribbean.

Attracting foodies from near and far, Smorgasburg is the largest weekly open-air food market in L.A. With more than 50 vendors, Smorgasburg has given local shops owned by women the opportunity to reach new audiences. Created by mother-daughter team, Patricia Mendoza Lugo and Irene Martinez, the two have brought to the masses their decades old family recipes at their Tamale Shoppe. At Brothcarey, sisters Alisson and Janice So serve all-natural, slow simmered gluten-free bone broth that is 100% paleo-friendly and truly nutrient-dense. For Junbi creators June, Dan, Anna, and Jeremy, matcha is the key to energy and goodness for the body and have worked to fine-craft the green powder to help push its customers to their limits.
