Mekong Underwater World - Insight into Freshwater Fish

Mekong Underwater World
This is a small but well kept freshwater aquarium displayting various fish and other underwater animals. There are a few rabbits and turtles on the way in that can be fed.

There are several small tanks and a huge tank with a walk-through tunnel. A feature is the Giant Chao Praya Catfish which is about 1 meter long. Some fish look like small sharks. A favourite is the alligator fish.

The Mekong Underwater World gives visitors an insight into the variety of fish, including rare and endangered species, that live in rivers such as the Mekong River, Kam River and Songkhram River. Signs are in Thai and English so that visitors know what fish they are viewing.

It is on Liang Muang Road in the Nakhon Phanom Province just a 6 klm short trip out of town in the area of Nong Yat Reservoir. Individuals, families and groups are welcome to see this entertaining and educational aquarium. 

Mekong Underwater World
Allow a few hours to have a leisurely look through. Admission is only 10 baht for children and 30 baht for adult locals and tourists. Souveniers, cold drinks and ice cream are for sale. There is a MK's restaurant in the nearby Tesco Lotus.

The Mekong Underwater World is open daily, on Mondays – Fridays, 9.00 – 17.00, and Saturdays – Sundays, on 10.00 – 18.00
